Lush Ickle Baby Bot Bath Ballistic

It's been so long since I have used a Lush bath bomb, so I decided to treat myself to a couple last week. One of the ones I picked up was this one - Ickle Baby Bot. I had seen this on some blogs, and as soon as I saw it in the shop I had to have it. It is quite literally the cutest thing I have ever seen!

Ickle Baby Bot is a light blue coloured robot! From the description on Lush's website, it seems as if it's aimed for use with little children, but I personally love it (even if I am 19!). This contains "essential oils which have been specifically selected for being soothing and calming for baby" and claims to be "mild, gentle and soothing for skin".

It contains Lavender oil so obviously, it smells like lavender! I know this isn't everyone's bag, but I love the smell of lavender, I find it very calming and relaxing.

It also made my bathroom smell lovely for hours after I used it, and turned my bath water a lovely colour:

I can't say that it made me fall asleep like it claims to, but it was really relaxing to use in the bath. I used the whole ballistic in one bath as it isn't the biggest bath bomb going.

I really do like this bath ballistic, and will probably be making a sneaky online Lush order soon as I don't have a Lush store near to me!

This costs £1.90 and is available from Lush stores or online here.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil

I hate the term "holy grail" but this eyeliner really is it for me. I have used this for about 4 years now, after my mum bought me a set of about 7 different coloured ones for Christmas. I immediately fell in love with these eyeliners, they are extremely creamy, pigmented and last for hours without even a hint of smudging. I have tried many other, cheaper eyeliners in that time, and I have found none that even come close to the Urban Decay ones.

I also really like the packaging of these. The outer box is a sort of mirrored effect with multi coloured writing, and the pencil itself is a matte black. However, I don't know if all the shades come as a matte black pencil - I used to use the shade "zero", which is also black, and that pencil was black with a silver end cap and a silver lid, and from what I could see in the shop when I purchased this, all the other colours were in a pencil colour corresponding to the liner colour with a silver end cap and lid (if that even makes any sense at all!)

Instead of being wooden, they are plastic, meaning that they are much easier to sharpen without damaging the product, and there is much less wasted product too. I have the shade "Perversion" which is black, but they have a huge shade range to choose from.

As you can see in the picture, the liner is extremely pigmented. I use this on my waterline everyday, and it does not budge until I remove my make-up at night. As I said, I use it almost daily, and one of these pencils lasts me roughly 8/9 months, so I don't think they work out *too* expensive.

These are £13.00 and are available from Debenhams, House of Fraser and online at Beauty Bay

Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel

Hey everyone,

"The sweetest thing, Snow Fairy is back again this year! Cheering up your shower yet again with her candyfloss scent and lovely pink glittering foam. Get your wings fluttering and lather up with this little cutie. She will surely wake the little fairy within you - even in you tough-looking blokes!"

It's back! I am sure the majority of you will have heard of this particular shower gel - it's one of Lush's best selling items, but unfortunately it is only available during the Christmas period. I have got through a few bottles of this over the years, and I couldn't resist picking one up when I popped into lush the other day.

If my memory serves me right, I think the packaging has changed! From what I remember, this used to have the standard black Lush label on, but this bottle has a bright pink label with stars on!

The shower gel itself is a bright pink colour, and actually contains a blue-y glitter, which you can sort of see here:

First things first, this smells AMAZING. It won't be to everyone's taste as it's extremely sweet-smelling. Lush describe it as smelling of "candyfloss and pear drops", a scent which "transports you back to days of standing in the sweet shop with your pocket money clasped in your fist, trying to decide what to buy". I have to say, this description is pretty much spot on. It smells just like candyfloss, and it certainly does remind you of a sweet shop.

This can be used in many ways too. The obvious use is as a normal shower gel, but it can also be used as a shampoo, and even as a detergent when doing your washing. I haven't ever used it as a detergent so can't comment on that use, but it does make a good shampoo, and leaves your hair smelling lovely and sweet.

Used as a shower gel, the smell lingers on your skin for a good while afterwards, which I love as I can not get enough of the smell. Although it contains glitter, the glitter doesn't stick to your skin, and doesn't stay in your hair if you use this as a shampoo either.

Overall, I really recommend this. If you have a Lush shop nearby, just go and smell this if you haven't already, I promise you won't regret it.

It is expensive for a shower gel (as many Lush products are), but in my opinion, it's totally worth it. Prices are:
100g - £3.50
250g - £6.25
500g - £10.25

Available from all Lush shops over the Christmas period, and online at www.lush.co.uk.

Have any of you tried this? What did you think?

Barry M Aqua Glitter

Hey everyone!
This isn't actually a particularly new release from Barry M anymore, but it is however one of my favourite glitter polishes, which I wanted to share with you all.

Aqua Glitter is what it says on the bottle really. It's the most perfect aqua shade - other blue glitters I have tried have never been just the right shade of blue that I wanted, until I picked up this one. It is aqua microglitter and bigger pieces of aqua glitter in a clear base.

The pictures above show 2 coats of Aqua Glitter over 1 coat of Modes Own Top Turquoise. Aqua Glitter is opaque by itself in about 4 coats, but I prefer to layer it over a similar base colour as I hate waiting so long for my nails to dry. Using just 2 coats, the polish dries fully in about 5-10 minutes.

In terms of lasting power, this tends to last about 3 days before chipping, which isn't a problem for me as I change my nails quite often, but if you want something long-lasting then this isn't it.

The pictures don't really show just how sparkly it is in real life - I always get people commenting on my nails when I wear this.

A major plus point for me is that although it's a glitter polish, it comes off so easily! The only reason I don't wear glitter polish all the time is because of how difficult it can be to remove. This, however, comes off almost as easily as any ordinary non-glitter polish!

Have any of you tried this shade?

Superdrug Superfruits Exfoliating Mask

Hey everyone,
This is my last face mask post, and I have saved the best one until last! If you want to read my posts about the other face masks I have tried, you can do so here.

The mask I have for you today is the Superfruits Exfoliating Mask.

Ideal for all skin types, this mask contains raspberry, cranberry and blueberry fruit extracts. It is a clay mask which contains strawberry seeds to gently exfoliate the skin.

The mask itself is a lilac-y colour, and is quite thick in consistency at first. However, when you begin to apply it to your face, it appears to thin out a bit, making it really easy to spread onto your skin. You can feel the strawberry seeds exfoliating your skin as you apply it, and again when you take it off.

It also smells amazing - very fruity, which is a favourite scent of mine.

As it is the last face mask post for the time being, I thought I would include a really rather attractive picture of myself:

Sorry for the smaller picture, it was taken on the front camera of my iPhone.

Anyway, as you can see, the mask is purple, but once it has dried (about 10-15) minutes later, it turns a white/grey colour, and is quite hard (which is normal for a clay mask) making it quite difficult to move your face or talk!

Once washed off, my skin immediately felt softer and smoother, and did for about 2/3 days afterwards too.

This is definitely my favourite from the masks I have tried, and would recommend this to anyone. Aside from the white chocolate mask, I have enjoyed using the Superdrug face masks, and think they are really good value for money :)

This is available from Superdrug for 99p.

Benefit Benetint

Hey everyone
Firstly, apologies for the amount of Benefit reviews I seem to be doing lately. I have recently begun to love the brand and have incorporated many of their products into my everyday routine, and I wanted to share them with you.

As most of you will know, InStyle magazine are this month offering three Benefit minis to try out - Benetint, Cha Cha Tint and Sun Beam. I originally went to buy the magazine with the intention of picking up Sun Beam as this is the one I wanted to try, but my local shop didn't have any Sun Beam samples left, so I settled for Benefit's oldest lip/cheek tint, Benetint.

Benetint is a "rose tinted lip & cheek stain", "kiss-proof, see through colour for lips and cheeks which lasts for hours".  I actually didn't think I would like this product at all - I'm not one for red lips/cheeks, but I decided I would give it a whirl anyway. I have to say, I was completely mistaken and I actually love this product.

It has a very watery consistency, much different to Benefit's other stains such as Posie Tint and Cha Cha Tint, which are more gel-like. It is a lovely red/rose color, and would probably suit most complexions. It has a slight floral scent to it as well, which I like but I know some people won't.

I have to say, I don't use this on my cheeks. I find it's quite hard to blend in with your fingers, and once blended, the majority of the stain is on your fingertip rather than on your cheek. I originally tried this on my cheeks, was very disappointed and thought nothing more of it. However, I was going on a night out, and wanted a lip colour that I wouldn't have to keep touching up, so turned to this to see what it would be like.

I don't actually have a picture of it on my lips, but it's the most beautiful rose colour. I thought it would be quite bright, but it's actually really subtle which I like. You can however build it up to a stronger colour if you wanted to. It lasted for about 5-6 hours on my lips too, of course it faded but it faded naturally without going patchy or messy.

The only downside to this is the fact that it can dry your lips out, so I wouldn't recommend this to someone with extremely dry lips.

Overall I love this as a lip product, but not really a cheek product. I don't know if it's just me not being able to apply it right, but I have spoken to a few other people who have told me they struggled to get any colour payoff on their cheeks!

I do think it's expensive if I was to just use it as a lip product, and for that reason I probably won't be purchasing the full sized one. However, if any more samples crop up, I will be snatching them up :)

This is available for £24.50 from Boots and online at www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk

Superdrug White Chocolate Mousse Mask

Hey everyone.
Another face mask post! Don't worry, there's only one more after this one ;).

The other day, I tried out the White Chocolate Mousse Mask from Superdrug:

This mask contains "cocoa butter, almond oil and shea butter to feed your skin and leave it feeling soft and smooth". I had really high hopes for this one as I am a massive fan of the white chocolate mask from Montagne Jeunesse, as it smells amazing.

Sorry for the blurry picture, but hopefully it gives you an idea of what the mask looks like.

The consistency is thick, which I expected and also a nice creamy white colour. However, for me, this is where the positives end. The first thing I noticed was the smell. It does not smell like white chocolate at all! It smells more like yoghurt, which I know is not the worst smell in the world, when you buy a "white chocolate mask" you expect it to smell something like white chocolate.

After I had got over the smell, I began to apply it to my face. It was easy to work with and easily spreadable, but the moment I put it onto my skin, I immediately felt a strange burning sensation! I was tempted to remove it straight away, but I thought it would maybe ease off in a few seconds so I left it on. After about 3/4 minutes of having the mask on my face, the burning sensation was getting worse, so I removed the mask. I don't have particularly sensitive skin, and have never had a reaction like that to a face mask before, so I was in no doubt that it was the mask and not my skin.

I ummed and ahhed about whether to post this because I don't like doing negative reviews, but I thought this was generally a terrible product. When you buy a face mask, you don't expect it to burn or sting your face!

I obviously did not leave it on long enough to be able to comment on what effect it had on my skin, but I for one will definitely be staying well clear of this. It's a shame because the previous two Superdrug masks I have tried have been wonderful. I will probably buy Superdrug masks in the future, but definitely not this one.

Barry M Amethyst Glitter & Rose Quartz Glitter

Hey everyone!
I've always loved glitter polishes, but rarely wore them because they are such a pain to remove! However, Barry M have recently brought out 7(?- I think, correct me if I'm wrong!) new glitter nail paints, and as soon as I saw them, I knew I had to get a couple! I have been a massive Barry M fan for about 3 years now, and probably own most of the standard nail colours from them (which is quite bad I know!), so I was really happy to see they had brought out some new glitter paints!

The two colours I picked up were Amethyst Glitter & Rose Quartz Glitter.

amethyst glitter

rose quartz glitter

Amethyst glitter is full of different coloured glitter pieces, all of which are the same size. The colours include blue, green, purple, gold and pink. I actually think this is a really nice polish for Christmas - I don't know why it just makes me feel Christmassy when I look at it!

Rose Quartz glitter is holographic microglitter in a clear base, with bigger hexagonal pieces of baby pink glitter.

L-R amethyst glitter, rose quartz glitter

The swatches above show 3 coats of each polish. As you can see, 3 coats of amethyst glitter pretty much covers the entire nail, whereas 3 coats of rose quartz glitter is still quite sparse. For this reason, I use rose quartz as a top coat on top of a different base colour - I find it looks really good over a pink or nude colour! I use amethyst glitter on it's own as I think it looks better this way rather than using a single coat over a different coloured base coat. The glitter does onlty need 1 layer of top coat to make it smooth too, which is a plus point!

In terms of longevity, I find that both of these lasted around 3-4 days before I felt they chipped enough for me to want to take them off, which I didn't think was too bad for glitter polishes!

Application of both these polishes is good, and they are super fast drying too.

The other colours are also amazing, and I'm having to resist the urge to buy them all!

The Barry M polishes are available from Boots, Superdrug (they don't appear to be on their websites yet though - they are however in store)  and online at www.barrym.com for £2.99 each.

Benefit High Beam

Hey everyone,
I recently bought a Go TropiCORAL Lip and Cheek Kit from Benefit, which contains a mini Cha Cha Tint, a mini High Beam, a mini Coralista Blush and a mini Coralista Lip Gloss.

Rather than doing a general review about the entire kit, I thought I would do more in-depth reviews about each product, starting today with High Beam.

High Beam is described by Benefit as a 'luminescent complexion enhancer' which accents cheek and brow bones for a radiant glow. Essentially you dab it onto wherever you want a glowy look and blend it with your fingers.

This is a 'deluxe sample' so it is only 4ml, the full-size comes in a glass bottle and contains 13ml. Other than the full-size being glass and not plastic, the packaging is the same. It almost looks like a nail polish, and you use the brush to dab the product onto your face. I actually really like the packaging, and I think the built in brush is actually really good quality. You could obviously use a different brush of your own if you wanted to though.

You can't really see the product on the picture where it's blended in, and it's very subtle when applied to your cheekbones too, but when the light hits it, you can see it sparkle and it does make your skin look glowing. It's shimmery without being glittery, and I think it would suit most skin tones.

The consistency is quite thick which I was surprised about, but it's really easy to work with and blend in. In terms of lasting power, I find this lasts easily as long as my foundation and is still there at the end of the day when I come to remove my make up.

This is actually the first liquid highlighter that I have tried - I usually stick to powder ones but I think I may be converted! I have used this pretty much daily ever since I got it, and although it's pricy, I do think it's worth it as it will last you ages. My sample doesn't seem to have gone down any and I have been using it for about 3 weeks.

The Go TropiCORAL Kit is £24.50 and a full sized High Beam is £18.50.
They are also available from Boots :)

Superdrug Sugar & Spice Self-Heating Face Mask

Hey everyone!
If you saw my post about the Superdrug Peel-Off Face Mask, then you'll know I recently picked up four of their masks to try. One of the ones that I bought was this one - the Sugar & Spice Self Heating Mask.

This claims to include caramel and mediterranean clay to brighten and soften skin, and recommends use with all skin types. I was drawn to this mask because I absolutely love the smells of caramel and cinnamon, and this mask contains both of them!

I had also never tried a self heating mask before so I was interested to see what they did!

As you can see, the colour is pretty much what you'd expect from this mask. The consistency was quite thick, but not thick enough so that you couldn't easily spread it onto your face. It also smelled absolutely delicious, exactly like caramel and vanilla. I recommend everyone goes and tries this simply for the smell!

The instructions say to splash the face with warm water before applying the mask - I assume this has something to do with the self-heating properties? Anyway, once applied, you can feel the mask immediately heating up, but not so it's unbearably hot, just a nice relaxing warmth. The heat lasts for about 2-3 minutes before it settles down just to the feel of a normal mask.

Normally with clay masks, as they dry they become stiff and you can't really speak without them cracking, but I found that this actually got runnier as time went on! I don't know if it was because I applied it whilst I was in the bath or not, but that was the only downside I found to this!

Afterwards, my skin felt softer and smoother. I was also suffering with quite a few blackheads on my nose when I used this, and I actually found that they were less noticeable after this.

Overall,  I enjoyed using the masks, and would recommend it!

It is available from Superdrug for 99p.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch

Hey everyone!
This is a fairly new product from Rimmel, and it is part of the 'Wake Me Up' range. Now I am not the hugest fan of the famous Wake Me Up foundation, so I don't know what drew me to this, but something did and I am very glad!

Essentially what this is, is a highlighter and Rimmel say it "instantly lifts from fatigue and illuminates any part of your complexion". Although it is mainly used on the brow bones or cheeks, this can be mixed in with your foundation to give an all-over glow.

There are two shades available at the minute in the UK - Shimmering Sand and Radiant Rose. I picked up Shimmering Sand as I found Radiant Rose to be slightly too pinky for my skin tone. Shimmering Sand is a nude shimmery colour, which is great for highlighting. Radiant Rose would probably be best used as a blush.

The packaging fits in well with the rest of the Wake Me Up range with it's orange accents, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of the white plastic as mine is getting grubby already! However, I do like the squeezy tube as when it's almost run out you can cut the packaging to get the last scraps :)

In terms of colour payoff, you really do only need the tiniest amount! I am not a huge fan of the glitterbomb face look, so I don't use much at all but it is easy to build up. It wears for roughly 7/8 hours which is good, and it wears off evenly without looking patchy. For the swatch above I literally just used the tiniest blob of product and as you can see, it shows up nicely.

You can also mix this in with a foundation to give a nice glow all over your face.

Overall I really like this product. I do prefer the Shimmering Sand colour to the rose one, but that is personal preference as I tend to reach for matt blushers rather than shimmery ones. This is great as a highlighter, and I would recommend it :)

It is available from Boots and Superdrug for £4.99

TAG | What Would You Repurchase?

Hey everyone!
I saw this tag on someone's blog a few days ago, but I can't for the life of me remember who's! If it's you let me know then I can link you :)
Anyway, the point of the tag is - if your house burnt down, which 10 beauty items would you repurchase immediately and why?
(Sorry about the stock photos - I don't have all of the products to hand at the minute!)

#1. Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation
If you read my blog regularly, you will probably know that I love this foundation and how it makes my skin look, so I would have to go out and get this as my skin is a bit dull at the minute!

#2. Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer
This is almost every blogger's favourite foundation, and I love it too. It's amazing for concealing blemishes and hiding imperfections. And, it's cheap! Yay!

#3. Collection 2000 Shimmer Shades
This is such a multipurpose product! It has contour powders, blusher and highlighter in one small case so I would repurchase this as it's like a 3-in-1!

#4. Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch
This is actually a relatively new product and I do have a review of this for later in the week. It's essentially a highlighter but can be used in many different ways and I love it for making me look more awake!

#5. Benefit Facial Emulsion
This is my go-to moisturiser at the minute. I suffer with really dry skin so a good moisturiser is essential for me.

#6 Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil
I have used this eyeliner since I was about 15 and I can not for the life of me get on with any other pencil liner. It stays put all day without smudging and really defines your eyes. I think it makes my eyes look more open and wide so for that reason I would go and get this!

(haha, this picture is from my first ever blog post so sorry about the poor quality!)

#7. Natural Collection Loose Powder
This is my all-time favourite powder. I usually go for pressed powders as me and loose powders don't normally get along but I haven't had any spills with this yet and I think it's really good at keeping foundation in place.
Picture from www.boots.com

#8. Benefit The POREfessional
Everyone and his dog knows what this is but I do love it, even on it's own it makes you skin look more even, and under foundation it provides a nice smooth base :)

Picture from www.polyvore.com

#9. Bourjois Volume Clubbing Mascara
Again I have used this since I was about 15 and I will continue to repurchase it until I find a mascara that gives me as much volume as this!

Picture from www.superdrug.com

#10. Carmex!
I love Carmex. It's really good for hydrating lips, especially at this time of year when it's getting colder so lips are more prone to dryness/chapping.
